What: The Institute at Wallenberg Hall: Using Videogames in Education

This intensive, five-day workshop, led by acknowledged world leaders in this new and rapidly growing field, is designed to make participants aware of the vast educational potential of videogame technology and to provide guided, hands-on experience at designing and using videogames in education.

Who Should Participate: K-12, college and university faculty and/or administrators seeking to make use of videogames and videogame technology in the education process.

When: August 6 - 10, 2007 Class sessions are on Mon., Tue., Thur., and Fri; Wednesday is a themed excursion day, including a visit to Electronic Arts.

Course Director: Keith Devlin, Executive Director, HSTAR

Featured Experts: The main session minicourse will be given by James Paul Gee, widely regarded as the leading expert in the world on the use of videogames in education.

Elisabeth Hayes will run daily hands-on, interactive tutorial sessions so that participants can explore some of the ideas Professor Gee will present. Dr. Hayes is a leading scholar in the study of the educational uses of videogame environments, and has published a number of seminal articles on that topic.

Guest presentations will be given by Byron Reeves, Nick Yee, and Henry Lowood, with a dinner presentation from a leading Silicon Valley innovator.
